My Killjoy Story
TRANSMISSION #1:
Hi.

My name is Chemical Catastrophe. I usually go by Chem or Chem Cat, though. I’m… Well, I’m on the run just like the rest of you. My sister and I made it out of the city just in time. I swear… If we had stuck around for a few more hours… oh well. We can’t dwell in the past. My sister’s name is Vengeful Romance… or just Venge. I love her to death. She’s a couple years younger than me, and I know I treat her like a baby sometimes. She’s often clumsy and is always ruining plans, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I feel like it’s my job to protect her from everyone who stand against us.
My colors are purple and green. I have a purple and black bandana that I wear around my face. I also keep an extra bandana with me at all times (usually tied through my belt loop) because, you see, one of the guys in my crew (Regular Revolution… Rev.) has vanished into the night. I keep his orange bandana in the hopes that he may come back looking for it. I guess I’m just a hopeful person sometimes…
My symbol is that of a mushroom cloud coming out of an Erlenmeyer flask. It looks something like this:
I’m not much of an artist, though. Not when it comes to drawing. I’m more of a musical person… That’s one thing I really miss. There are no pianos out in the zone… All those lessons kind of went to waste huh…
Usually, I don’t mind my new life. I just… At least I have freedom, you know? At least I can be who I want to be… and no one is telling me what to think or how to feel… I just miss my parents sometimes… and I wonder how they are doing.
Oh well. I try not to dwell on it. Anyway, usually, it’s just Venge and I and then a few people in my crew. They call me the leader, but the truth is that I don’t know what I’m doing any more than they do. I just try to keep us safe and out of trouble. You’ll usually find me roughing it in the outer zones. I travel in a ‘99 Mustang Convertible that had belonged to my parents, but… well, I stole it. They won’t miss it anyway. Venge will tell you that I drive like a maniac. Don’t listen to her. I’ve never been in too serious an accident.
I’m currently trying to find my “brother” as well. He’s not really my brother, but I’ve taken him under my wing a few times before. His name is Static Substance (Stat). He’s always pushing to be out on his own and I usually try to just help him in any way that I can, but I haven’t seen him in a while. If anyone sees him out in the Zones, please tell him that Chem’s looking for him and let me know. He’s so hard-headed sometimes, but I do get worried about him.
Anyway, I should probably get out of here. My communication transmitter is starting to fail me and I’m afraid to go close to the city in search of batteries. If I see you in the zones, I will help you if I can.
This is Chemical Catastrophe.

TRANSMISSION #2
Hey guys…
I’m in Battery City. My goal? To find more Killjoys and get them out of this hellhole…
I left Venge with Rogue and the rest of the crew. We still haven’t found Rev yet, but it’s looking a little hopeful. Rogue seems to believe she finds signs of him everywhere… I just don’t know if that’s true or if she just wants to believe it is.
I always feel so exposed in the city with no colors, no mask, and my gun hidden under my dull grey and white clothes. I feel like I’m an actress, forcing a smile, speaking softly, not making the scene that I’d like to. I want to start yelling. I want to tell everyone to wake up, to fight.
But I know that they wouldn’t listen, wouldn’t care. These people are too far gone. In each of them, I see my parents. I don’t know what has become of them since Venge and I left. Dad’s probably a drac by now… I’d rather not think about that. It’s thoughts like that that make you hesitate… and it’s that hesitation that’ll get you ghosted.
I’m in a safe house now. Come night, I will be like the pied piper, leading these kids who want to leave out into the Zones… I just wish they knew that the Zones aren’t the Paradise that those in the city hope for it to be… But I believe that they’ll at least be safer out there…
Wish me luck

Transmission #3
It’s been a while since I updated you guys… even though I’m not even sure who hears this. Probably not many people. Anyway, I made it out, harboring about eleven kids and teens out into the Zones. It was a good mission. Effective.
Our crew has gained a few of them, but most of them have disappeared into the Zones. We may never see them again, but they thanked me in the only way they knew how. They gave me batteries and some food. One tried to give me his ray gun, but I refused it, telling him he’d need it himself. He smiled a bit at me when I handed him some of the red paint that I had found in one of the warehouses. “Here,” I told him. “Make it your own.” He smiled at me before disappearing out into the distance along with a few others who had created their own crew.
I so hope that they succeed.
Anyway, my main goal right now is to keep Venge safe, keep Rogue from going to search for Rev on her own, and keep enough supplies to keep everyone alive.
If I see you out in the Zones, I will help you. If I don’t, just keep making noise, Killjoys.

Transmission #4
That was a close one. Honestly.
I was helping Rogue find Rev. We had this really promising lead and, against my better judgment, I allowed her to talk me into going and finding him. We had heard that he had been taken and was being held in one of the warehouses on the outskirts of the city. We heard that the warehouse was also being used as a laboratory, where they tested out their drugs and whatnot on Killjoys that they had captured.
We made it all the way to the warehouse, which seemed deserted. That should have been a red flag for me. Honestly, looking back, I was about as blinded by hope as Rogue was. I followed her as she quickly entered the building. I realized too late that we had entered an ambush. We were surrounded. Fifty? Maybe more than that. So many dracs, all wearing the same blank stare hidden behind the same emotionless masks.
We were taken. We were experimented upon for about two weeks before there was a raid rallied by some of the killjoys whom I had helped out of the city. I don’t know what luck it was that they picked that warehouse of all of them. I’m almost positive that they didn’t know what was going on in there. However, they succeeded in freeing us.
The damage that had been done with the medication is beginning to wear off. The withdraw was hell. There were times when my crew had to tie us up just so we wouldn’t start fighting them to go back to the city. It’s amazing what BLI had done to our minds in such a short time.
It kills me that I left Venge for all that time, but Stat found the crew while I was gone and had been helping them stay safe. I’m in his debt for that. I’m pretty sure he’ll be gone as soon as Rogue and I are completely healed.
The worst news of all? Rev wasn’t there. Never had been. It was a complete waste… and I almost threw my life away for it.
I’ll never do that again. Ever. I can’t risk leaving Venge alone…
Everybody keep making noise. I’ll be there. If you need anything, approach me. Seriously. If you need a crew, if you need food, if you need batteries. I’m here, okay? No matter what. Look for my Green Mustang Convertable and my crew of four, five if Stat is with us. I’ll help in any way that I can.
